Another cold and windy weekend , I spent the warmest day searching for Osmia aurulenta which hasn’t been recorded in East Anglia yet despite having the right conditions, I still have not found it yet but I’m not giving up. I did see two of the Carder bees but before I could ID them further they were up and off in the wind.
Just back from a long weekend in Orford , Suffolk. I managed a little bit of insect hunting, I saw hundreds of Dasypoda hirtipes.
I had a lovely time Vamping in Ratlinghope , which is in Shropshire. It is near Stiperstones NNR which is a rare habitat , mostly bilberry and heather and home to some rare bees.
It was a haven for so many different and rare bumblebees and some solitary bees which you will see me post.
