No , Rove beetle is the common family name and the Latin family name is Staphylinidae so that will incorporate many beetles after that comes species … so in the Linaus system every thing has two names so after family comes genus so we think this one is Philonthus then species carbonarius… I do biological recording for the national data base while im not an expert I am getting quite good but my area is hymenoptera Bees wasps and ants .. a lot of these as i have said in a previous message can only be separated by looking at them under a microscope and by dissection in a lot of bees its comes down to their sexual organs which are the only difference in two identical bees but different species ….. yes i have had a look at you page 🙂
